I had to flip some switches and climb down and up chains and a ladder in order to get to necessary levels and rooms. It's probably the longest time I left Yorda unsupervised in this game. Thankfully,the Shadow Creatures (non-flying ones at that) materialized on a lower level of the castle w/the princess completely out of their reach.
The main problem I ran into was getting Yorda on the moving platform before throwing the switch. It took a few turns to figure it out,but my obstinacy paid off apparently.
Anyway,I saved at the East Arena.
